South Norfolk Business Awards Evening - 2019
We are delighted to be Finalists in the South Norfolk Business Awards and will be attending the Awards evening on 5 February 2019, at Dunston Hall, Norwich.
Proeon Turns 15
On 26 July Proeon Systems welcomed many clients, suppliers, and friends to join in festivities and look back on its achievements and projects completed past and present. Our celebrations began with informal networking; discussions and review of Proeon’s achievements, which was followed by tours of our facilities and a unique opportunity to participate in the demonstration of our very own “Terri the Turbine” which is a jet engine circa 1970 which our engineers have reprogrammed to be run on a modern control system via an iPad, which managed to whet everyone’s appetite ready for our Hog Roast Lunch and some Proeon Birthday Cake.
Proeon Systems started in Norfolk and has grown significantly from its humble beginnings in a garden shed to a multi-million pound business, employing around 50 highly skilled engineers and support staff operating across the globe for many well-known international household names, and a proud participant in the EDP Future 50 initiative.
Proeon Systems is the brainchild of two entrepreneurial engineers who started by providing consultancy services and had the vision to develop further offering cutting edge automation solutions to the oil & Gas market. Control and Automation in the industrial environment has moved on a lot in the last 15 years, with developments in technology, wireless communication, control, data management, and of course addressing new risks such as cyber security.
So what makes it so special? Proeon has kept true to its original ethos focusing on complex and critical control solutions, providing levels of specialist knowledge and experience that only comes from operating in the industries for many years.
Proeon has maintained its presence at the forefront of providing technical solutions with a specific focus; providing services and solutions to clients with aging legacy infrastructure, often obsolete and unsupportable and bringing it up to state of the art. How many times have you changed your laptop or indeed your mobile phone in the last 10 years? Industrial control and automation is often kept operating for 20-30 years - Remember Microsoft DOS? Well it is still found in many operating industrial systems.
Proeon have made it their drive to support clients to invest and make the change-over to the latest in hardware and software on some of the most complex systems. With staff ranging from 30+ years’ experience in the field right through to a yearly intake on an apprenticeship scheme; Proeon continues to invest in its future, expanding its knowledge and service support.
With its facilities at the Hethel Engineering Centre, just outside of Wymondham, Proeon has built its business to be able to engineer, procure, construct, install, commission and service entire control suites for some of the most critical and demanding applications, keeping industry working and energy coming to our homes, ensuring people keep safe at work.
Almost two years ago and in line with their strategic business plan for continued growth, the two family owners of the business Kevin and Eddie took the decision to recruit and appoint Richard Miller as Managing Director of the business. Now with even bigger plans, Proeon are quick to reassure they have not lost any of their accessibility, or customer service focus.
“We’re really excited to have come this far with Proeon, the future is really looking bright for us, and our new and existing clients agree” said Director and founding member Kevin Magee.
“With a 50 strong workforce and the scale of projects increasing, we’re now planning our next 15 years where we will grow and expand into our own facilities” said Richard Miller MD
